OUR MISSION and COACHING PHILOSOPHY

At Xtreme, we want to help each player grow and develop into the field hockey player they want to be.  We pride ourselves in our positive coaching style and highly personal, small group training.  We strive to know each of our players' individual skill level so we can take their game to the next level.

Because we understand that academics, community service, and other sports or activities are important in the lives of our athletes, we help our girls balance their dedication to field hockey with their other commitments.  At Xtreme, we want our players to be committed, work hard, and push themselves to be the best players they can be.

Our coaches know that we are coaching a competitive sport in a competitive league.  We understand that the idea of winning can consume our athletes. As field hockey coaches of young girls our goal is to help them understand what it truly means to be a winner.  We teach them about the importance of always giving their best and understanding that every girl is unique and that they each have their own personal best.  We want them to be confident and self assured.  We want them to be a person their teammate can trust.  We want them to know how to work together to achieve a common goal.  As coaches we know that being an athlete makes girls more successful in life and our goal is to give all our girls the tools to become determined, motivated, and self confident in all aspects of their life.

OUR PROGRAMS

Xtreme Field Hockey is pleased to offer a variety of field hockey programs in the Northern Virginia area. Whether you are playing in our rec program or on one of our developmental or club teams, you can be assured that it will be a positive, fun and rewarding experience.

There are three levels of play at Xtreme Field Hockey:

  •       Recreational Program

Xtreme Recreational Program is open to all players.  It can be for players new to the game and beginners looking to develop their skills or it can be a good fit for more experienced players who want to keep a stick in their hand and maintain their skills during the off seasons but don’t have the time to devote to the developmental or club team. The rec program will give beginners a great foundation and those who have played before the opportunity to continue developing their skills to a higher level. Players will be grouped by age and ability. The rec program format consists of weekly clinics that provide both skills training and an opportunity for interclub scrimmages or playdays with other leagues.

The Recreational Program will have a Fall Season for 2nd - 8th graders and a Winter and Spring Season for middle and high school players.  This program is run in partnership with SCAA.

  •     Academy Program

Xtreme Academy Program is designed for players who already have a foundation with field hockey that are looking to improve their game and be a part of a team. It is more competitive than the rec level but does not require the advanced skill level and time commitment of an elite club team. Academy  teams will receive strong training through skill sessions, scrimmages and games that will prepare them for the advanced playing level and expectations of our club team if that is what they desire. The Academy Team will have practice once a week and will play in either a local league or participate in a few local tournaments.  Placement on an Academy Team will be based on tryouts.

The Academy Program will have a Winter and Spring Season for U12, U14, U16, and U19.

  •       Club Program

Xtreme Club Team is our most advanced field hockey program. It is for motivated and skilled players who are ready to elevate their game, make field hockey their biggest priority, and commit to a team where they will be challenged at the highest level. We like Club players to commit to playing both winter and spring sessions so that we can maintain continuity and cohesion between teams and seasons. Club Teams will practice 1 or 2 times per week and are guaranteed 3-4 tournaments during both the Winter and Spring Seasons. Placement on club teams will be based on tryouts.

The Club Program will have a Winter and Spring Season for U12, U14, U16, and U19.
